In windows operating system if USB device is connected, a Safely Remove icon is shown on the system tray. Clicking on that icon usb device can be removed safely. If that icon is not shown on the system tray, go to Start > Run . Then write  rundll32 shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll   and press enter. After that if anytime you connect any USB device on your computer, the Safely Remove icon will be shown on your System Tray.
